I’m in love with this little film. It’s what my dreams would be made out of. Watch it here. Made by some talented people in Barcelona. Oh Barcelona! Another place of of my dreams. ~ Lurgs

Lost and Found

Saturday, March 13th, 2010

I’ve been a big fan of Oliver Jeffers ever since I saw his book Lost and Found. He’s an artist/illustrator from northern Ireland and I just love the simplicity of his drawings which are filled with humour and emotion. Lost and Found is a great story of friendship between a boy and a penguin, and now it’s been made into a film!!

For you lucky Torontonians, Lost and Found will be playing with a series of other shorts in the Sprockets Film Festival for Children (this big kid is attending!) on  April 17th and 18th.

Here’s the trailers. Can’t wait to see these beautiful illustrations in motion.

**ooo… a video of Oliver Jeffers here! He’s lovely!**

Mary & Max

Saturday, January 30th, 2010

I just finished watching a great film “Mary & Max”. A beautiful correspondence between two unlikely people. As a kid, I always wanted a pen pal and the thrill of getting things in the mail. Now I’m jaded and wary of crazy strangers, but it’s still nice to get things in the mail, especially when everyone relies on email these days. So go send a friend a letter, or even better, a package! There’s nothing like getting a delightful surprise in the mail that you can hold.

The film has delightful details and interesting advice. Perhaps I should rub onions in my arm pits to deter unwanted suitors.

It’s available on itunes and worth checking out! It deals with some more serious themes, so not for young children.
